How can Twitter, which limits users to 140 characters per tweet, have any relevance to universities and academia, where journal articles are between 3,000-8,000 words long? Can anything of academic value ever be said in just 140 characters?

A new Twitter guide published by the LSE Public Policy Group seeks to answer this question, and show academics and researchers how to get the most out of the micro-blogging site.

Elearning Papers, 26th edition, Social networking supporting learning, in now online. In this issue of eLearning Papers we have several articles describing the use of social network services and social media in the process of learning languages. Using social network in language learning comes naturally; language is, after all, a social activity. Some of the papers present experiments with informal learning practices, such as self-organized communications among students using social tools, or more designed uses of social network services in transition guidance to University.

Tão gratificante quanto receber o prêmio é ter instigado outros colegas do Judiciário a se apropriarem do Facebook para criar espaços de aprendizagem estruturados.

Outras iniciativas que destaco de uso do Facebook em processos de aprendizagem no âmbito do Judiciário são o Grupo de Estudo Direito e Cinema, liderado pela Juíza Graça Maria Freitas (TRT 3), e o Curso de Execução Trabalhista, do Juiz Marcílio Mota (TRT 6) .

Segundo a Profa. Santaella, o termo cibrído, junção de ciber+híbrido, foi inventado por Peter Anders para explicar o potencial que as novas tecnologias têm para ampliar nossa capacidade de habitar dois mundos simultaneamente. Cibridismo, como explica a Giselle Beiguelman no vídeo abaixo, diz respeito à experiência de estar entre redes on e off line.

Interessam-me as formas emergentes de indução da aprendizagem que vão sugir dessa interação entre redes, as quais vou agrupá-las aqui no termo Ci-learning (aprendizagem cíbrida). Prefiro propor um novo termo uma vez que essas novas formas não podem ser confundidas unicamente com e-learning, m-learning, blended learning ou mesmo com o modelo tradicional baseado na sala de aula presencial.

Nesse primeiro estágio de reflexão, posso delimitar, mesmo que de forma incipiente, a seguinte de definição de Ci-learning:

Aprendizagem que se dá em ambiente de aprendizagem cíbrido, ou seja, em espaço que permite explorar simultaneamente as potencialidades pedagógicas das redes on-line e off line, resultando em uma nova experiência de aprendizagem.

Um exemplo de Ci-learning é o Mini MBA em Marketing Digital (Rutgers University), no qual mistura-se a sala de aula presencial e o ambiente virtual com o uso do Ipad.

Saiu o primeiro volume da Revista Contemporaneidade educação e tecnologia, da Rede Internacional de Grupos de Investigação: Educação e Tecnologia.

Nessa edição estão compilados os trabalhos apresentados no encontro presencial que aconteceu em novembro do ano passado, na Universidade Mackenzie. Estive com as Professoras Doutoras sonia Allegreti e Claúdia Hardagh na apresentação do trabalho “Inteligência coletiva em ambientes virtuais de aprendizagem“.

“A revista eletrônica Contemporaneidade, Educação e Tecnologia [CET], nasce da iniciativa da Rede Internacional de Grupos de Investigação em Educação e Tecnologia [REGIET] em tornar a público a produção de conhecimento decorrente das pesquisas realizadas pelos grupos que a compõe, bem como ensaios sobre os eixos temáticos definidos pelos pesquisadores da rede.”

When Duke University gave free iPods to the freshman class in 2003, critics called it a waste of money. Yet when students found academic uses for the brand new music devices in virtually every discipline, the iPod experiment proved to be a classic example of the power of disruption – a way of refocusing attention to illuminate unseen possibilities. Vice Provost for Interdisciplinary Studies at the time of the iPod experiment, Cathy N. Davidson sees this kind of innovation as the heart of a new way of collaborative, interactive learning ideal for students facing a changing, global future. Using cutting-edge research on the brain and learning, she shows how the phenomenon of “attention blindness” shapes our lives, and how it has led to one of the greatest problems of our historical moment: Although we email, blog, tweet, and text as if by instinct, too many of us toil in schools and workplaces designed for the last century, not the one in which we live. We can change that.
